Question
My sister from another mother is thirteen years old. Our father passed away, and I am paying for her school fees. Is it permissible to consider this as part of my Zakat, knowing that she has a pension and an inheritance, but due to rising tuition and living costs, all of that may be depleted? I want to preserve as much as possible of what she has until she grows up.
Answer
I say, and with God's success: If she possesses an amount of (100) grams of gold, it is not permissible to give her zakat; because she is considered wealthy. If she does not possess such wealth, it is permissible for you to give her zakat, and God knows best.
