The Ruling on One Who Abandons Prayer Out of Laziness
A person who abandons prayer and believes that one who leaves prayer is a disbeliever, is this person considered a disbeliever, even if they are unaware of the scholars' differing opinions on the matter? Is the consensus of scholars a requirement for declaring someone a disbeliever?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: One who neglects prayer out of laziness does not disbelieve, while one who neglects it out of denial does disbelieve, and disbelief does not occur in a matter that is disputed. And God knows best.
