Question
I read that there is a difference among scholars regarding the Qada (making up) of the Witr prayer, as the Hanafi school holds that it is obligatory to make up the Witr prayer for anyone upon whom dawn has broken without having prayed it, whether they left it intentionally or out of forgetfulness, regardless of the duration. Abu Hanifa also stated that the Fajr prayer is invalid for one who prays it while remembering that they did not perform the Witr. I want to clarify the condition of remembering the Witr for someone who has prayed Fajr, so that their prayer becomes invalid according to the Hanafis?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The Witr prayer is obligatory according to Abu Hanifa, and the Fajr prayer is invalid if performed while remembering that one has not prayed Witr, and God knows best.
