Question
What is the ruling on excessive movement in prayer, and is three movements a criterion for the invalidation of the prayer?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The accepted view in our school regarding the movements that invalidate prayer is that the observer thinks the one praying is not in prayer. The one praying imagines that if another looks at him while he is making this movement, he would say he is not in prayer. In that case, his prayer is invalidated, and God knows best.
