The Ruling on Mistakes in the Number of Prostrations for One Praying While Sitting
A person is praying while sitting on a chair, and it happens that they make a mistake in the number of prostrations by either increasing or decreasing, what is the ruling on this action?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If he makes a mistake by adding, he must perform the prostration of forgetfulness, and if he makes a mistake by omitting, he must perform what he missed of the prostrations and then prostrate for forgetfulness. And God knows best.
