When waking up for Fajr prayer, is it necessary to perform istinja before wudu even if it is not needed?

I say, and with God's help: It is not obligatory to perform istinja (cleaning oneself after using the toilet) nor is it recommended before ablution; it is merely preferred, and God knows best.
