The Ruling on Increasing the Number of Washes of a Body Part in Ablution
Does increasing or decreasing the number of washes of a body part in ablution invalidate the ablution, such as washing the face four times instead of three times, or washing it twice instead of three times?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: washing once is obligatory, and three times is a Sunnah. If it is less than three, the reward of the Sunnah is lost, and if it exceeds, it is considered wasteful. It does not invalidate the ablution, and God knows best.
