The Ruling on Giving Donated Money to Others
A widow receives a heater and blankets annually from a charitable organization, but this year she does not need the heater, so she gave it to her family. Is it permissible for her family to take the heater?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: After you take it from the association, you will have owned it, so it is permissible for you to donate it to others. It is preferable to inform the association that you do not need it so that they can give you something else, and God knows best.
