The Ruling on Forgetfulness and Doubt in Oaths
If a person forgets that they swore an oath about something or forgets that they swore, do they have to offer a expiation?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: A expiation is only required from one who is certain by the oath and is mindful of it; otherwise, the expiation is not obligatory. And God knows best.
