The Ruling on Following the Imam in the Two Tasleems
Should I greet (say 'peace') with the imam directly, or should I wait for him to finish the greeting? And what about the one who is late (the follower), should he stand up at the beginning of the greeting or at the end of the phrase 'peace be upon you' from the left?
Answer
I say, with God's help: When the imam gives the salam to his right, the follower should also give the salam to his right, and when the imam gives the salam to his left, the follower should give the salam to his left. The one who has missed part of the prayer should stand up to complete it after the imam's salam to the right, and God knows best.
