Question
I have a talented daughter in drawing, and she often draws anime. I heard that it is forbidden, so I suggested that she draw from both an artistic and religious perspective at the same time, meaning like the rulings of prayer with an image depicting the ruling of bowing or prostration, or that she draws more than one character, like a person sitting teaching the rulings of Sharia, or a mother sitting with her daughter teaching her about menstruation and postpartum or any other ruling. What is the legal ruling on the subject of drawing in all its forms, according to the opinions of the schools of thought?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is not permissible to draw anything that has a soul, unless its features are not apparent or it is small enough that its limbs cannot be seen by someone standing if it is lying on the ground. As for drawing if it is purposeful and beneficial for Muslims, it is permissible by analogy to the play of girls according to the saying of Abu Yusuf, and God knows best.
