The Ruling on Dhikr and Food Sessions for the Soul of the Deceased

Question
My children's uncle passed away some time ago, and his sister wants to hold a religious lesson for the family and some neighbors and distribute some sweets. Is this permissible or is there any objection?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: This is an act of goodness, and giving it in the way of God for the soul of the deceased is commendable, and God knows best.
