Question
What is the ruling on continuously looking at the Kaaba?
Answer
It is recommended, for looking at it is an act of worship; as it was narrated: "Looking at the Kaaba is an act of worship" [from Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, in Al-Jami' Al-Saghir by Al-Suyuti, number 14587, and in Akhbar Makkah by Al-Azraqi 2: 9: from Mujahid, who said: "Looking at the Kaaba is an act of worship, entering it is entering into goodness, and exiting from it is exiting from evil," and in Kashf Al-Khafa 2: 397: "Looking at the Kaaba is an act of worship, looking at the faces of parents is an act of worship, and looking into the Book of Allah is an act of worship," and see: Al-Mirqat 7: 3055], and "looking at Allah is an act of worship" [narrated by Al-Tabarani and Al-Hakim from Abu Mas'ud and from Imran bin Husayn, may Allah be pleased with them, as in Al-Mirqat 7: 3055]. For whatever is looked at that indicates the truth and leads to it is an act of worship, as it was narrated that the friends of Allah are those who, when they are seen, Allah is remembered.
