Question
What is the ruling on celebrating Labor Day, Arbor Day, or others?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is among the permissible acts; because these matters are commendable among humans, and they promote virtue and noble qualities, which aligns with the message of Islam. Ibn Abbas said: "When the Prophet arrived in Medina, he found the Jews fasting on Ashura. They were asked about that, and they said: This is the day when God granted victory to Moses and the Children of Israel over Pharaoh, and we fast it in reverence for it. The Prophet said: We are more deserving of Moses than you, and then he commanded that it be fasted." In Sahih al-Bukhari 5:70. Since what they were doing was good and righteous, the Prophet did it and commanded it, and he did not refrain from doing it because it was similar to their practice. The same applies to all good deeds and righteous acts, and God knows best.
