Question
I washed the shoes that we wear outside along with the small mats placed by the bathroom door to dry our feet in the washing machine. After that, I spread the mats and laid out the shoes, but I found a small amount of bird droppings in one of the shoes, with some discoloration at the bottom of the other shoes. Have the mats become impure? Should I wash them again, or is this minor impurity excused?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The droppings of birds such as pigeons and sparrows are excused, so they do not render anything impure; this is due to necessity, unlike what comes from chickens and ducks, which is not excused and does render things impure. And God knows best.
