Question
We often clean the intestines of the sheep and feel that our clothes remain impure, and also when we use them as fertilizer for plants, will their fruits be impure? What is the criterion for impurity in our case?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If our clothes become impure from the entrails of a sheep or others, we must wash them three times with wringing, or we must be reasonably certain that they are pure. Fruits are not impure if we use what comes from animals as fertilizer in the soil; rather, this has historically been the most common practice, and our scholars have not said it is disliked. And God knows best.
