The Ruling on a Woman's Work and Her Handling of Money
A woman who works because her husband has a low income, and spends most of her time at home preparing food and taking care of the children, is it permissible for her to handle the money as she wishes or must she seek her husband's permission? Is it permissible for her to give some of it to her father and mother, knowing that this situation of 'a woman's work' is common in their country?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The principle is that a woman's money is her own, and she can dispose of it as she wishes, as long as it does not harm her husband's honor and reputation. She is not required to seek his permission. If her parents are in need, she should help them from it, but it is wise to consider her husband's situation so that it does not lead to marital problems.
