The Ruling on a Woman's Call to Prayer and Iqama for the People

Question
What is the ruling on a woman's call to prayer and iqama for the people?
Answer

It is disliked for a woman to call to prayer (adhan) because she is prohibited from raising her voice, as it may lead to temptation. If she raises her voice, she commits a sin, and if she lowers it, she abandons the Sunnah of raising the voice. Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, said: 'Women are not required to call to prayer or iqama,' as mentioned in Ma'rifat al-Sunan 2: 266. It was not reported from the predecessors when congregational prayer was prescribed for them, so it would be considered an innovation, especially after the abrogation of their congregation. However, if a woman calls to prayer for the people, it suffices them for the adhan despite being disliked, and it is not repeated, as the purpose of announcing is achieved. See: Al-Tabyin 1: 94, and Al-Bahr 1: 277.
