The Ruling on a Wife Seeking Divorce from Her Negligent Husband
Is it permissible for me to seek a divorce from my husband who has not lived with me in the same country for a year, and does not provide for me, but I am providing for him?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The spouses can agree on the divorce (khula); because it must be based on mutual consent, and it is not permissible for the woman to act unilaterally in this matter. And God knows best.
