The Ruling on a Traveler Who Became Fasting During His Journey and Then Deliberately Broke His Fast

Question
What is the ruling on a traveler who became fasting during his journey and then deliberately broke his fast?
Answer

He must make up the fast without expiation; because the reason that permits it in terms of appearance is present, which is travel, thus it creates a doubt, and expiation is not required in the presence of doubt. Refer to Bada'i' al-Sana'i' 2: 100.
