The Ruling on a Man Performing 'Aqiqah for Himself
Is it permissible for a man to perform 'Aqiqah for himself if his parents did not perform it for him? Is 'Aqiqah a right of the newborn over the parents?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The aqeeqah is a form of devotion and not a Sunnah, but the sacrifice is obligatory for those who own the minimum threshold of wealth, as it serves in place of the aqeeqah in fulfilling this right, and God knows best.
