The Ruling on a Husband Saying to His Wife 'You Are Forbidden to Me'

Question
Does a man saying to his wife, 'You are forbidden to me,' constitute a divorce?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: It is considered a divorce if it is regarded as such in custom. In Jordanian custom, it is not used for divorce, but rather it is considered an oath, and there is a expiation for the oath. And God knows best.
