The Ruling on a Fasting Woman Who Chews Food for Her Child Without Swallowing

Question
What is the ruling on a fasting woman who chews food for her child without swallowing?
Answer
It is disliked for a fasting woman to taste broth or to chew food for her child; because it is not guaranteed that something of it will reach her stomach, except if it is necessary for her to do so, then it is not disliked for necessity if she does not find cooked food or milk, or if her husband has bad character, then it is permissible to taste it with her tongue. See: Al-Wiqayah p. 239, Durar Al-Hukam 1: 207, Bada'i Al-Sana'i 2: 106, and it was narrated from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him: "There is no harm in tasting the pot or something," in Sahih Al-Bukhari 2: 681 as a commentary, and see: Fath Al-Bari 4: 154, and Taqliq Al-Talqi 1: 151.
