The Ruling on a Fasting Person Taking a Bath During the Day in Ramadan

Question
What is the ruling on a fasting person taking a bath during the day in Ramadan?
Answer
It is disliked for a fasting person to take a bath, pour water over their head, or wrap themselves in a wet garment; because it shows impatience with worship and a reluctance to endure its hardships. As for what has been narrated that the Prophet, peace be upon him, poured water over his head due to the heat while he was fasting, as mentioned in Al-Mustadrak 1: 597 and Musnad Ahmad 4: 63, it is understood to be in a specific situation, which is the fear of breaking the fast due to extreme heat. See: Bada'i' al-Sana'i' 2: 107.
