The Ruling on a Child Leading Prayer
Is it permissible for a nine-year-old child to lead his mother in prayer, and is the mother's prayer behind him valid?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The prayer of a mature person behind someone who is not mature is invalid. Generally, a male reaches maturity after twelve years, so a mother's prayer behind her son is not valid if he is not mature. And God knows best.
