Question
What is the ruling of Ihram in relation to places?
Answer
1. The obligation: Entering the state of Ihram from any designated place. 2. The Sunnah: Entering the state of Ihram from the designated place of his country; to alleviate hardship for the community. 3. The best: Entering the state of Ihram from the dwelling of his family; as it is a form of hastening to acts of worship. 4. The preferable: Anything he performs before its time, by entering the state of Ihram from after the dwelling of his family before reaching the designated place. 5. The prohibited: Delaying the state of Ihram beyond the specified place. 6. The disliked: Exceeding his designated place to another place, while being someone who can control himself from what is forbidden. The state of Ihram is valid in all these cases, even in the prohibited Ihram, except that it requires a sacrifice (dam), and there is no condition for the validity of Ihram regarding place, time, form, or state. If he enters the state of Ihram while wearing sewn clothes, his Ihram is valid, or if he engages in sexual relations, his Ihram is invalid. See: Al-Maslak Al-Mutqasit with Al-Labab, pp. 105-106.
