The Ruling for the Majority of the Year in Irrigating Crops

Question
I am a farmer who relies on rainwater and also on water from runoff to irrigate the cultivated land. How should I give zakat on the land?
Answer

I say, and with God's success: The irrigation of crops by human action and without human action is judged by the majority of the year. This means that the farmer must pay half of the tenth or the tenth based on the majority of irrigation or lack thereof. If the crop remains in the land for four months and you irrigated it for three months with runoff, you must pay half of the tenth. If you irrigated it for one month with runoff, you must pay the tenth. If you irrigated it for two months, you must pay half of the tenth. However, if the crop was irrigated with rainwater for three months, you must pay the tenth. If it was irrigated with rainwater for one month, you must pay half of the tenth. If it was irrigated with rainwater for two months, you must pay half of the tenth; this is to consider the rights of the farmer, and God knows best.
