When you raise your daughter to obey God and wear the hijab from the age of puberty or earlier, and when she grows up and travels to America to study at university, where the country is open, she removes the hijab claiming that she is not convinced, and says when God guides her, she will wear the hijab. Is there any sin on the parents knowing that they always remind her? What should they do?

Answer

I say, and with God's guidance: The parents are sinful for neglecting to raise her with the hijab or for sending her to America for study or for any neglect regarding her religion. They should be very concerned about her returning to her faith and pray for her abundantly. We ask Allah, the Exalted, to forgive her, and Allah knows best.
