The Relationship Before Marriage
I have a cousin whom I love and he loves me too. We found out that a relationship before commitment is forbidden, so we decided not to talk to each other until he proposes to me. But is it permissible for us to communicate within the limits of Islamic law?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Communication between a man and a woman without a legitimate relationship is prohibited. If the man is sincere in his desire to marry, he should propose to the girl so that the relationship between them becomes legitimate. And God knows best.
