I say, and with God's success: The Eid gift "Eidiyah" is a form of honoring kinship, assisting relatives, and being kind to them. It is recommended according to each person's ability. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Learn your genealogies so that you may maintain your ties of kinship, for maintaining the ties of kinship is a source of love among family, increases wealth, and prolongs life." (Reported in Al-Tirmidhi 4: 351). The Prophet (peace be upon him) also said: "The true connector is not the one who reciprocates, but the one who, when his ties of kinship are severed, connects them." (Reported in Al-Tirmidhi 4: 316 and authenticated). And Allah knows best.
