The Prophet's Consistency in Action
If the consistency in the actions of prayer from the Prophet (peace be upon him) does not mean obligation, while outside of prayer, consistency means obligation, what is the difference between the two cases? Isn't it all consistency from the Prophet (peace be upon him)?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: persistence does not imply obligation within or outside of prayer unless there are other indications that support the obligation confirmed by persistence, and God knows best.
