The Poor Person Paying Zakat Money to File a Lawsuit
A poor person has a problem with his neighbors and has filed a lawsuit against them. Is it permissible for this poor person to take from the zakat money and pay this money to a lawyer to defend him in the case?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is permissible for him to take the zakat; because he is poor, and it is permissible to give it to the lawyer; because he has become the owner of the zakat money, and he can dispose of it as he wishes. And God knows best.
