Question
What is the phrase of remembrance in the Prayer of Tasbih?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is to be done as mentioned in the hadith. Narrated by Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with him: "The Messenger of God, peace be upon him, said to Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib: O Abbas, O my uncle, shall I not give you, shall I not reward you, shall I not do for you ten things? If you do that, God will forgive your sins, both the first and the last, the old and the new, the mistakes and the deliberate, the small and the large, the secret and the public. Ten things: that you pray four rak'ahs, reciting in each two rak'ahs the Opening of the Book and a Surah. When you finish the recitation in the first rak'ah, you say while standing: Glory be to God, and praise be to God, and there is no god but God, and God is the Greatest, fifteen times. Then you bow and say while bowing ten times. Then you raise your head from bowing and say it ten times. Then you prostrate and say it ten times. Then you raise your head and say it ten times. Then you prostrate again and say it ten times. Then you raise your head and say it ten times. That totals seventy-five in each rak'ah, performed in four rak'ahs. If you can pray it once every day, do so; if not, then once every Friday; if not, then once every month; if not, then once every year; if not, then once in your lifetime." Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 2: 223, Al-Mustadrak 1: 465, and it was authenticated, and Sunan Al-Tirmidhi 2: 347, and God knows best.
