The Patient Who Lives on Medical Devices
A patient whose heart is very weak, and the doctors have given his family the option to either perform a heart activation procedure, keeping him on devices, or to leave him as he is to the will of God. Is it permissible to leave him without medical devices?
Answer
I say, and with God's guidance: If there is no benefit in the doctors' words regarding his treatment and the use of devices on him, then the choice is up to the family in this matter, and they are not obligated to use the devices due to the lack of healing through them. Likewise, it is not recommended to use the devices; rather, the matter is permissive. And God knows best.
