Question
How do we respond to those who say that adhering to the Hanafi school of thought, which is a respected Sunni school among the people of Sunnah and the community, is a detestable form of partisanship?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: God Almighty has preserved for us these four schools of thought and chosen them for us to follow one of them; because each one has its own rules, principles, and regulated conditions, and mixing between them makes the obligated person deviate from these principles, rules, and standards. Throughout its history, the nation has adhered to them. Can the nation of Muhammad (peace be upon him) be misguided or fanatical, when it is based on scientific rules in interpreting the Quran and the Sunnah? Whoever does not adhere to them will be following his desires in interpreting the Book and the Sunnah. I have seen in this time how the rulings have been lost due to these deviant calls, and what state the Muslims have reached. And God knows best.
