The Necessity of a Widow's Exit
I was divorced due to a lawsuit for discord and dispute, and I am a mother of three minor children. I go out to work and bring supplies for my home. What should I do during the waiting period? Is there mourning and a commitment to stay at home?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: It is permissible for the woman in iddah to go out for necessity. If your going out is for work and bringing home necessities is a necessity, then it is allowed. If there is no necessity, it is not allowed. You are not permitted to go out for other matters that are not necessary, such as visits and others. And God knows best.
