The Mistake in Fasting the Obligatory and Voluntary

Question
Do the rulings of voluntary fasting differ from the rulings of obligatory fasting? In other words: If someone fasts during the month of Dhul-Hijjah, and while performing ablution water enters his throat and he expels it, is he allowed to continue his fast or is it invalidated?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: Generally, the fasting of a voluntary (nafl) fast does not differ from that of a mandatory (fard) fast in its rulings. What breaks the fast in the mandatory fast also breaks it in the voluntary fast. If water accidentally enters his mouth, his fast is invalidated. And God knows best.
