The Maintenance of Brothers for Their Mother and Unmarried Sister
If the eldest daughter who is unmarried is living with her mother in the same house, should the maintenance for the household come from the mother's money or the daughter's? And are the brothers obligated to provide maintenance for their unmarried older sister?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If the sister does not have money to spend on herself, her brothers are obligated to provide for her. If the mother and daughter have money, they are both responsible for the household expenses. Whoever has money among them is obligated to support the other. And God knows best.
