I say, and with God's success: Ja'far al-Sadiq was born in the year (80 AH) and died in the year (148 AH), as mentioned in Al-Wafayat 1: 327-328, Rawdat al-Manazir p. 137, and Al-Nujoom al-Zahira 2: 10. Abu Hanifa was born in the year (80 AH) according to the famous account, while Al-Kawthari corrected it to (70 AH), and he died in the year (150 AH). It appears that they were contemporaries, and proving the student-teacher relationship requires specific texts that indicate it. And God knows best.
