Question
In the Gift of Kings, if someone catches the Imam while he is standing, then the Imam bows and he does not bow with him, and then the Imam stands up and bows, the follower is considered to have caught the rak'ah. How can he be considered to have caught the rak'ah when he did not participate in the bowing pillar?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The scenario is as follows: If the imam catches up with the follower in the standing position, meaning that the follower is with the imam in standing, then the imam bows and the follower does not bow until the imam raises his head from the bowing, then the follower is considered to have caught that rak'ah by consensus; because he shared with him in the reality of standing, but he lagged behind in bowing, so he became a follower in that. He must follow him in it. See: Ibn Malik's explanation, p. 52/b.
