Question
If a woman is pregnant and breaks her fast because her doctor told her to do so for the sake of the fetus, does she have to make up the fast, and is she required to pay a compensation?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is permissible for a pregnant or nursing woman to break her fast during Ramadan if she fears for herself, and there is no expiation or compensation required from her, but she must make up the fast whenever she is able to do so, and God knows best.
