Question
Is it permissible for a groom who has proposed to a veiled bride to ask her to remove the niqab and not wear it afterward?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: Wearing the niqab is recommended and not obligatory; because the face is not considered 'awrah (a part of the body that must be covered), so it is permissible for her to remove it if she sees a benefit in doing so, although wearing it is better, more modest, and further from temptation. The principle for a husband is to strive to cover his wife more and more and to be protective of her. Anyone whose thinking contradicts this raises doubts about their condition. If the girl has other marriage opportunities, it is preferable for her to choose someone else. And God knows best.
