The First Between Sacrifice and Aqiqah
Which is better, to sacrifice for myself and my family, or to intend for Aqiqah for each of them, knowing that I have two sons for whom I want to shed blood? What is the correct wording for the intention?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: If you are wealthy enough to own the nisab of zakat, which is 100 grams, you must perform the sacrifice for yourself. If you are not wealthy, you have the option of either the sacrifice or the aqiqah, and it is not sufficient for it to be both a sacrifice and an aqiqah at the same time. And God knows best.
