The Fee for Reciting the Quran
In my country, Uzbekistan, imams do not receive a salary except for a small amount, and their income comes from reciting the Quran at funerals, weddings, hospitality, and similar events. Is this permissible or not?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: Taking payment for reading is not permissible according to Sharia, as established by Ibn Abidin in a special message, and God knows best.
