The Father Paying Zakat to His Children Who Do Not Live with Him

Question
The children of a divorced woman who live with their mother and do not have visits with their father, is it permissible to give them zakat, knowing that they are from the branches and it is not allowed, but is it permissible to give them just because they do not live in their father's house?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is not permissible to give zakat (charity) to one's children; because they are descendants, even if they do not live in the father's house; because their maintenance is obligatory upon him even if they do not reside with him, and God knows best.
