The Entry of Non-Muslims into Mosques

Question
Is it permissible for non-Muslims, such as Jews or Christians, to enter mosques? For example, are there conditions for allowing a group of male and female Jewish tourists to enter the mosque to see the place and have Islam explained to them? Do women enter wearing modest clothing, and can menstruating women enter the mosque?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is permissible to allow these individuals into the mosques for the purposes of tourism and getting to know Islam and its culture. They are requested to dress modestly out of respect for the place, and it is not required for them to be in a state of ritual purity; as they are not obligated by the legal rulings. And God knows best.
