The Dowry of a Woman Whose Husband Died and Left No Inheritance

Question
A woman’s husband passed away, and he left her no inheritance. She was told that she has the right to claim the deferred dowry from the husband’s family. Is it permissible for her to forgive her deceased husband for her right?
Answer

I say, and with God's success: The deferred dowry is considered a debt that should be collected from the deceased's estate if it exists; otherwise, it is considered as a debt that has been forfeited, and its owner has no right to demand it from anyone. It remains as a right in the hereafter, and it is recommended for the wife to forgive him before Allah, and Allah knows best.
