Question
What is the Yazidi sect? Are they Muslims and monotheists of God Almighty?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: The Zaidis are one of the Shia sects, and they are the closest to the Sunnis. They are attributed to Zaid ibn Ali Zain al-Abidin ibn Hussein ibn Ali, may God be pleased with them, who died in the year 122 AH. Among his works are the book "Al-Majmu' in Hadith" and the book "Al-Majmu' in Fiqh," which are in one book called "Al-Majmu' al-Kabir." The Zaidis believe in the Imamate of the lesser one in the presence of the greater one, and based on that, they affirm the validity of the Imamate of Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman, may God be pleased with them, despite their belief that Ali, may God be pleased with him, is better than the three. They rely on the Holy Quran revealed to Muhammad (peace be upon him) and do not agree with the Rafidah in their claims of the distortion of the Holy Quran. However, the Zaidis agree with the Mu'tazilah on the issues of names and attributes, fate, and the position between the two positions. As for the Sunnis, they believe that the Quran is the speech of God, uncreated, from Him it began and to Him it returns, and God knows best.
