The Disbursements of Fidyah for Fasting
Are the disbursements of fidyah for fasting the same as the disbursements of zakat or are they for the poor in general? And is the same true for Zakat al-Fitr?
Answer
I say, and with God's help: The recipients of the expiation for fasting and the recipients of the Zakat al-Fitr are the same as the recipients of Zakat. You can give to any poor person in general, unlike Zakat, which must be given to a Muslim poor person. And God knows best.
