The Description of What is Used for Tayammum
What is the relied-upon view in the Hanafi school regarding tayammum? Is it required to use soil, or is anything that is above the surface of the earth sufficient?
Answer
I say, and with God's success: It is permissible for everything that is of the same kind as the earth, such as soil, sand, stone, dust, and others, and God knows best.
